About

Growing up an only child of a single mother in St. Petersburg Florida, Brooke was surrounded by homemade remedies from an early age. As early as she can remember, her mother was using essential oils and natural remedies passed down from mother to daughter for generations. She always expressed to Brooke the necessity of these practices for providing an affordable and healthier option free of harmful chemicals. Brooke continued to foster these values and attended The Florida School of Holistic Living. While attending Brooke received an in depth education in ayruvedic, Chinese and traditional medicine. She continues to expand her knowledge of these practices and plans on receiving further education in the practice of herbology and botany over the coming years. Recently moving to Los Angeles from Oakland, California, Brooke has gained a new perspective on sustainable living and using local natural resources for a healthier life that is not harmful to the environment. She continues to work in the vegan restaurant industry which is where Brooke and Whitney met, while serving tables at a farm to table, organic vegan restaurant in Culver City.

From a young age Whitney has been intrigued and inspired by the world of herbal medicine and holistic healing. In her early teenage years she began to question the sources of food and medicine and the politics surrounding these important issues. She took these ideas with her to Santa Cruz, California where she studied Literature at the University of California Santa Cruz. She became immersed in the beautiful forests and meadows of this place and her love for the natural world and its healing powers grew immensely. She has taken various courses in herbalism through UC Santa Cruz and the greater Santa Cruz community all while working at a local retail herbal apothecary during her time there. In this space she continued to gain knowledge about herbalism from the other individuals/herbal practitioners that she worked in company with, as well as from the various customers that frequented the shop bringing abundant knowledge and advice from their own lives and, in many cases, practices. Alongside her passion for herbalism, she believes strongly in the value of food-as-medicine and works in the vegan restaurant industry in Los Angeles where a strong emphasis is placed on sustainability and healthy food practices for all of those involved. She plans to continue her education in the study and practice of herbalism and holistic healing in the coming years.
